President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman on winning the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year award. In a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President also celebrated Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for being named CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year and the Super Falcons for clinching the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
The prestigious awards were announced Monday night at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco. Lookman emerged winner ahead of South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Cote d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy. His victory keeps the title in Nigeria following Victor Osimhen’s win last year.

The Atalanta winger, who received the award in person, described the honour as “incredible” and expressed pride in the recognition. His stellar performance over the past season, including key goals and assists, earned him the prestigious accolade.
President Tinubu praised the athletes for their outstanding achievements, calling them worthy ambassadors for showcasing Nigeria’s talent and bringing honour to the nation on the continental and global stage.
