President Tinubu Defends Reform Agenda Amid Criticism, Says Focus Remains on Long-Term Gains

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his commitment to steering Nigeria through what he described as a necessary period of reform, insisting he remains focused on doing what is right for the country, regardless of mounting criticism.

The President’s remarks were delivered on his behalf by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the public launch of ‘Sule Lamido: A Legacy of Service’—an autobiography of the former Jigawa State governor—held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Acknowledging public discontent over some of his administration’s policies, President Tinubu maintained that citizens are entitled to criticise government decisions, so long as such assessments are objective.

He noted that the government is gradually transitioning from a challenging adjustment phase to a period of “intended beneficial outcomes,” driven by macroeconomic stability and long-term planning.
