President Tinubu Hails EFCC for 7,000 Convictions, N500bn Recovery in Two Years

President Bola Tinubu says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured more than 7,000 convictions and recovered assets worth over N500 billion in the past two years.

Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima at a judicial workshop in Abuja, the president said the figures reflect his administration’s commitment to transparency and the rule of law.

President Tinubu noted that the recovered assets are being channeled into social investment programmes, including students’ loans and consumer credit schemes. He insisted that the government has not interfered in the work of anti-graft agencies or the judiciary.

Acknowledging public frustration over slow corruption trials, the president urged judges to uphold integrity and adapt to evolving crimes such as cryptocurrency fraud, describing the judiciary as “the last sanctuary of our collective conscience.”
