President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Armed Forces as the country marked the Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day. In a statement signed on Thursday, the President honoured members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in service to the nation, saying their courage continues to sustain Nigeria’s freedom and peace.
The President also acknowledged the families of the fallen, assuring them that the nation would never forget the sacrifices made by their loved ones. He praised serving military personnel for their discipline, courage and professionalism, and reiterated his commitment, as Commander-in-Chief, to their welfare and dignity across land, sea and air operations.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Tinubu at the ceremony held at the National Arcade in Abuja. The event featured wreath laying at the cenotaph, special prayers led by military chaplains, a minute of silence and the firing of artillery in honour of fallen servicemen and women.
