President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences following the death of former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88.
Onigbinde was Nigeria’s first indigenous Super Eagles coach, leading the team to the Africa Cup of Nations final in 1984 and returning to guide the squad at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and Korea.
Tinubu praised Onigbinde for his discipline, integrity, foresight, and passion for football, noting his contributions to grassroots football and football administration in Nigeria.

The football tactician’s family announced his passing, describing him as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, with funeral arrangements to be communicated later.
