President Bola Tinubu has ordered security and intelligence agencies to launch an immediate rescue operation for the 25 female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State. Gunmen stormed the school in the early hours of Monday, killing the Vice Principal, Hassan Makuku, and injuring a security guard. Police in the state confirm that a manhunt for the attackers is already underway.
In a statement, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, said the President strongly condemned the assault, describing the protection of schoolchildren as a core responsibility of the State. He added that Tinubu has issued clear directives for the safe recovery of the students and the prosecution of those responsible.

The government says it is enhancing internal security coordination and deepening regional cooperation to counter cross-border criminal networks.
