President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader of quiet strength, discipline and enduring grace. He spoke on Monday at the launch of the biography ‘From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari’ at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
President Tinubu said Buhari left behind a reputation for integrity, a spartan lifestyle and the belief that public office is a trust rather than a means for personal gain. He said these qualities would continue to inspire Nigerians beyond Buhari’s years in office.
The President recalled working with Buhari to build the political coalition that won the 2015 presidential election, noting that the alliance formed in 2014 later grew into one of Africa’s fastest expanding political parties. He said the partnership demonstrated the importance of cooperation across political differences.

President Tinubu described the biography as a balanced account of Buhari’s achievements and shortcomings, urging future leaders to learn from it. He added that honourable politics and responsible governance remain essential to Nigeria’s nation building efforts.
