President Tinubu seeks Senate Confirmation for NMDPRA, NUPRC Boards

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of 21 nominees to the Senate for confirmation as members of the boards of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The nominations were announced on Monday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the nominees include executive and non-executive members. Former senator representing Rivers South East, Magnus Abe, was nominated as chair of the board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, while Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji was nominated as chair of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The Presidency said the nominations were aimed at strengthening regulation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and were based on the nominees’ experience and professional capacity. President Tinubu has asked the Senate to expedite the confirmation process to allow the boards to function fully and ensure effective oversight of petroleum activities.
