President Tinubu Signs Bill for Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoni, Rivers State

President Bola Tinubu on Monday signed into law a landmark bill establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoni, Rivers State, reaffirming his commitment to the region’s development.

Speaking during the ceremony at the State House, President Tinubu emphasised the significance of the new university in empowering Ogoni citizens. He noted that it would open doors to greater participation in national development, addressing historical marginalisation.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, highlighted the university’s focus on interdisciplinary programmes, particularly in environmental science, clean energy, and sustainable technology. These courses are designed to equip students with the knowledge to address pressing ecological challenges both regionally and nationally.

National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, also underscored the importance of the university in advancing efforts to restore Ogoniland, tackling long-standing environmental concerns and fostering lasting solutions for the community.
