President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the 125km Benin-Asaba Highway, a major infrastructure project expected to be completed within 30 months.
Represented at the event by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, the president described the road as a legacy initiative that would significantly enhance regional connectivity. Governor Okpebholo noted that Edo State was witnessing rapid infrastructural development, drawing comparisons with Lagos.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi praised the governor’s leadership, stating that Edo had become a “construction site” within just 150 days of his administration.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, while commending the federal government’s commitment to the project, urged the president to extend the highway to the Onitsha Bridge to further improve transport links in the region.
