Price of 5kg cooking gas declines by largest margin in 12 months

The average price of 5kg cooking gas declined by 6.10% in June 2024- the largest in the last 12 months according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.  

A review of the price of 5kg LPG in the last 12 months dating back to July 2023 shows that prices only dropped once in April 2024 which was a 1.06% decline.  

In the month under review, the average price of 5kg cooking gas stood at N6,966 from N7418 recorded in May 2024.

On a year-on-year basis, the cost of a 5kg cooking gas moved from N4,068 in June 2023 to the current figure; representing a 71% increase over a 12-month period. 

On a state-by-state analysis, Osun recorded the highest average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Cooking Gas, at N7,800, followed by Edo at N7,750, and Ebonyi at N7,590.
