Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has held high-level security consultations to review strategy for the ongoing 22-month conflict in Gaza, amid reports he is considering a full military takeover of the territory.
Despite mounting international pressure for a ceasefire, efforts to broker a truce with Hamas have collapsed. Gaza’s health ministry said eight more people had died of hunger within 24 hours, with 79 others killed in Israeli strikes.

Military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir presented options for continuing the campaign during a three-hour security briefing, attended by top officials including Defence Minister Israel Katz.
While the Israeli Prime Minister’s office did not comment on reports by Israel’s Channel 12 suggesting he favours retaking Gaza, he told army recruits the war’s objectives remain unchanged: defeating Hamas, recovering hostages, and preventing Gaza from posing a future threat.
Fifty hostages are still believed to be held.
