In a bid to ensure better education in the state, the Osun state government has shut down 23 private schools, for operating without meeting required standards, from issues ranging from unhygienic teaching environment, staffing unqualified teachers, and with some schools operating with outdated licenses, or no licenses at all.

Some school operators in the state feel they are being unfairly treated, Radio Now speaks with the chairman of the association of Model Islamic schools, who notes that the association was not consulted in this exercise to verify that schools have not met standards. The special adviser to the Osun state government on education also joins the conversation who addresses grievances following the shutting of schools.
