The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society has called on the United Nations to undertake an international investigation into what it calls the ‘systematic torture of Palestinian detainees’ being held in Israeli prisons and detention facilities.
The organisation cited a video and dozens of testimonies documented by rights groups in its statement.
These groups, including the Israeli rights group, B’Tselem, said that several Israeli prison facilities have been converted into a network of camps they say are dedicated to the abuse of inmates since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza.
The prisoners’ society said abuse was especially prominent against Palestinians from Gaza who are being held in the Sde Teiman detention facility.
