Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has secured the support of the Qatar Foundation to tackle the country’s growing population of out-of-school children, estimated at over 15 million.
During a meeting in Doha with Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned, founder of the Qatar Foundation, Mrs Tinubu sought collaboration on reforming Nigeria’s Almajiri and basic education systems. She said the government’s new model combines Islamic and formal education, offering safe, skills-based learning with boarding facilities and community involvement.
