The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has postponed Real Madrid’s away match at Valencia and Villarreal’s home match against Rayo Vallecano this weekend due to severe floods in eastern Spain, which have claimed over 95 lives. La Liga requested the suspensions, also impacting three second-division matches in affected regions.
RFEF’s statement noted that the decision includes matches in professional and non-professional leagues, as well as indoor competitions in the Valencia area. Earlier this week, several Copa del Rey first-round games were also postponed, including Valencia’s tie against Parla Escuela.
This weekend, a moment of silence for the flood victims will be observed at all matches across Spain, including the Catalan derby between Barcelona and Espanyol.
