Red Cross Condemns Killing of Medics in Southern Gaza

The Red Cross has condemned the killing of eight Palestinian medics, six Civil Defence first responders, and a United Nations staff member by Israeli forces in southern Gaza.

A UN official said five ambulances, a fire truck, and a UN vehicle were struck one after the other in the al-Hashashin area on 23 March. The bodies of the 15 victims were recovered from what he described as a “mass grave” on Sunday.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society, PRCS, said that a ninth medic remained missing and accused Israel of deliberately targeting its personnel.

Israel’s military said its troops fired on vehicles that, according to them, were ‘advancing suspiciously’ without headlights or emergency signals. It claimed a Hamas operative and “eight other terrorists” were among those killed.
