The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has assured Nigerians of the speedy passage of the constitutional amendment bill. He gave the pledge in Abuja on Monday at the National Public Hearing on the review of the 1999 Constitution.
Abbas said the House would make every effort to succeed where previous assemblies had failed, stressing that the process would positively impact all sectors of society. He commended citizens for their participation and pledged to consider their contributions with fairness, diligence, and urgency.

The Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Constitutional Amendment, promised an all-inclusive process. He said the committee would ensure broad engagement with civil society, political parties, professional groups, and traditional institutions.
Representing President Bola Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, commended the committee for creating a platform that brings citizens into the amendment process. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions through constitutional reforms.
