The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned that the Peoples Democratic Party may struggle to win major offices in the 2027 general elections if its leadership fails to resolve ongoing internal disputes. He spoke during a media chat on Monday at his office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Mr Wike said the party’s leadership lacks focus and openness to correction, adding that unresolved crises could weaken the PDP’s chances of returning to power. He urged party leaders to take responsibility, rebuild the party structure and make strategic decisions ahead of the next election cycle.

The former Rivers State governor also criticised the PDP National Convention held on November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State, accusing Governor Seyi Makinde of attempting to dominate the party. He alleged that an ex parte court order was obtained to allow the convention to proceed, amid growing tensions between the two political allies.
