The outgoing Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Retired) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, says the state was deeply divided and unstable before President Bola Tinubu’s intervention six months ago. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt to mark the handover back to democratic governance, he said his administration focused on fostering peace and reconciliation.

He urged citizens to rise above political rivalry, bitterness, and self-interest, stressing that no political victory was worth the blood of any Rivers person. He appealed to leaders, youths, and communities to nurture the peace achieved during his tenure.
Retired Vice Admiral Ibas described the relative stability enjoyed today as evidence of collective effort and God’s grace. He asked residents to safeguard the state’s progress through unity and peaceful coexistence. Clergy at the event also called for forgiveness and cooperation in rebuilding Rivers State.
