Rivers APC Leader Issues Resignation Ultimatum to Governor Fubara

A senior figure in Rivers State’s All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to step down or face impeachment amid escalating political tensions.

The demand follows the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming 27 lawmakers allegedly loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the state’s legitimate legislative body. The crisis deepened after Governor Fubara invited the lawmakers for talks, a move Mr Okocha dismissed as deceptive.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Monday, Mr Okocha accused the governor of mismanaging the state, disregarding legal protocols, and undermining President Bola Tinubu’s intervention efforts. He argued that Governor Fubara’s failure to implement the president’s eight-point agenda had worsened the standoff.

The political rift between factions allegedly loyal to former Governor Wike and Governor Fubara has heightened uncertainty in the state, with impeachment threats adding further strain to an already volatile situation.
