Rivers Assembly Adjourns Plenary Indefinitely Amid Gov. Fubara Budget Presentation Request

The political tension in Rivers State continues as Governor Siminalayi Fubara has written to the Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly, requesting to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill.

This follows the governor’s earlier attempt to present the budget on Wednesday, which was met with resistance at the Assembly complex.

In his letter dated March 13, Governor Fubara cited compliance with the Supreme Court ruling and the lawmakers’ request for him to re-present the budget. He proposed March 19 or any suitable date within the month for the presentation.

However, shortly after the governor’s letter was sent, the House adjourned plenary indefinitely during a session presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewhule. It remains unclear whether the governor’s letter was received before the adjournment.
