The Rivers State House of Assembly has launched a probe into state finances during the six-month tenure of Ibok-Ete Ibas as sole administrator. Lawmakers resumed plenary on Thursday following the lifting of emergency rule.
The assembly also asked Governor Siminalayi Fubara to present the 2025 budget proposal and forward a list of commissioner-nominees for screening. Speaker Martins Amaewhule presided over the sitting at the legislative quarters.

Emergency rule was imposed in March after a political crisis involving Governor Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. During that period, all democratic structures were suspended.
President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on September 17, restoring full democratic governance in the state. The assembly building remains under construction after its demolition earlier this year.
