The Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Edison Ehie, has claimed he was offered a N5 billion bribe to orchestrate the governor’s impeachment.
Speaking on a television programme monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, Mr Ehie, who served as a factional speaker of the state assembly until January, said that he still possesses evidence of the alleged offer on his phone.

He also said the attempt was made while he was majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Ehie also dismissed allegations that he was behind the bombing of the assembly complex on 30 October 2023, describing the claims as unfounded. His denial follows accusations from former state Head of Service George Nwaeke, who alleged that the attack was carried out on the governor’s orders.
