The Rivers State Government has stated that it has not yet received any resolutions from the State House of Assembly regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling of February 28, 2025. This comes after the Martins Amaewhule-led Assembly issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to present the 2025 state budget. In a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, the administration clarified that as of March 4, neither the governor’s office, the deputy governor, nor the Accountant-General had received the document.
The government also refrained from recognising any specific individual as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, further deepening tensions between the executive and legislative arms. Mr. Danagogo cited Governor Fubara’s March 2 state broadcast, in which he reaffirmed his commitment to the rule of law and pledged to abide by the Supreme Court’s decision, regardless of personal opinions on the matter.

Furthermore, the government disclosed that its legal team is still awaiting a certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment. Officials assured the public that once the document is received, Governor Fubara would act accordingly and without delay in the best interest of the state.
