Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will deliver his first broadcast to residents this evening following his return to office. He told supporters in Port Harcourt that the address will take place at 6 p.m.
Fubara arrived at the government house on Friday after being received at the airport by a large crowd. He said the warm reception was a reaffirmation of the bond between his administration and the people.

The governor resumed duty after President Bola Tinubu lifted the state of emergency declared in March over a political crisis. During the six-month suspension, former naval chief Ibok-Ete Ibas was appointed sole administrator of the state.
The crisis stemmed from a power struggle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The rift split the state assembly and escalated into violent confrontations before reconciliation efforts by the President.
