The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state’s local government elections.
Governor Fubara, in a state broadcast on Sunday, stated that his government would act in accordance with the law after thoroughly reviewing the Certified True Copy of the judgment. The Supreme Court had, on Friday, declared the local government elections held in the state on 5 October 2024 invalid.

Pending further legal and administrative measures, the governor has directed the Heads of Local Government Administration to assume immediate control of the 23 local government councils across the state.
