Rivers United Reclaims Top Spot in NPFL After Abia Warriors Win

Plateau United deepened the woes of their neighbours Nasarawa United with a convincing 2-0 victory in the NPFL week 13 clash at the New Jos Township Stadium. After a goalless first half, Nasarawa United gifted the hosts an own goal in the 51st minute, putting Plateau United ahead. The misery was compounded when Olawale Doyen converted a penalty in the 81st minute, leaving Nasarawa rooted at the bottom of the table with just 12 points from 13 matches.

Elsewhere, Rivers United edged out Abia Warriors 1-0, courtesy of Ndifreke Udo Effiong’s penalty in the 58th minute. The result helped Rivers United climb back to the top of the table with 25 points, overtaking Remo Stars, who faltered in Katsina.

Katsina United played a key role in the title race by defeating Remo Stars 2-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Goals from Azeez Falolu and Dawi Boslam ensured a vital win for the home side, while the loss saw Remo Stars drop to second with 23 points.
