Rivers United extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, with a commanding 2-0 victory over Shooting Stars at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Aniekeme Okon broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, and Ndifreke Effiong sealed the win with a second goal 14 minutes later. The win propelled Rivers United back to the top of the NPFL standings, amassing 17 points from seven matches.

In another encounter at the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United secured a 3-1 triumph over Remo Stars. Ebuka Anthony opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, and Abubakar Adamu doubled the lead shortly after the hour mark. Anthony completed his brace in the 71st minute. Remo Stars’ Jabar Malik pulled one back with a late goal in the 83rd minute, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
