Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has praised new signing Kelechi Iheanacho following his impressive full debut in the club’s 4-0 League Cup win over Partick Thistle. The Nigeria international, who joined on a free transfer, registered his first assist in Scottish football by setting up Sebastian Tounekti’s maiden goal for the club.
Coach Rodgers described Iheanacho as physically strong and well-prepared, though he admitted the striker still requires regular minutes to regain sharpness after limited action in recent months. The Irishman expressed confidence in helping the 28-year-old rediscover the form that once made him a Premier League standout.

Iheanacho was replaced by Daizen Maeda just before the hour mark after a lively showing. His next task will be to build on a promising start as he settles into life at Parkhead and looks to make a lasting impact.
