Brazilian football legend Ronaldo has announced his intention to run for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), citing the need to address what he described as a “deep crisis” in the country’s football scene. Speaking to Globoesporte on Monday, the 48-year-old expressed his desire to restore international respect to Brazilian football.
Ronaldo, famously known as “O Fenomeno,” aims to use the CBF presidency to revitalise Brazil’s national team, the five-time world champions.

The former striker, who scored both goals in Brazil’s 2002 World Cup final victory over Germany and won the Ballon d’Or twice, said he plans to travel across the country to gain support from regional clubs and federations essential for his candidacy.
While the date for the next CBF election has not been set, Brazilian media reports suggest it will take place between March 2025 and March 2026. Ronaldo expressed confidence in his “incredible plans” for the future of Brazilian football and pledged to work tirelessly toward securing the position.
