The House of Representatives descended into chaos on Tuesday after lawmakers rejected a motion on alleged illegal land allocations at the Lagos International Trade Fair complex. The motion, sponsored by Ademorin Kuye from Lagos, sought an investigation by the committee on public assets.
However, Francis Waive, who heads the committee on rules and business, argued that the matter fell under the committee on commerce. The disagreement quickly split the chamber, with some members proposing an ad hoc panel to bridge both sides. A voice vote ultimately went against Kuye’s motion, triggering loud protests.

The uproar stalled proceedings, with lawmakers rejecting other motions, including one calling for a new military base in Kwara State. The session was later suspended as the presiding officer called for a closed-door meeting.
