Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the All Progressives Congress’ victory in Saturday’s local government elections as a collective win for all Lagosians. The APC swept all 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions across the state.
Sanwo-Olu congratulated the winners and party stakeholders, calling the outcome a strong vote of confidence in the APC’s grassroots vision. He reminded the newly elected officials that their victory must translate into responsive and transparent governance.

On national matters, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona. He described both men as “remarkable leaders and giants of our time.”
He praised Buhari’s lifelong dedication to public service and described Oba Adetona as a wise and respected monarch who shaped Ijebuland for over six decades. Sanwo-Olu offered condolences to the bereaved families and urged Nigerians to honour their legacy.
