Vice-President Kashim Shettima says the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) project will be extended to 10 states by the first quarter of 2026.
Shettima, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, disclosed this at the flag-off of the SAPZ project in Ijaiye, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. He noted that the expansion is in collaboration with the African Development Bank, with plans to include all 36 states in phases.

Eight states – Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, Imo, Cross River, and the Federal Capital Territory – have already met the criteria for phase one of the initiative. The programme aims to boost agricultural productivity, support value-added processing, and promote inclusive growth.
Major international partners include the African Development Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the Islamic Development Bank, with groundbreaking already carried out in Kaduna and Cross River.
