Former Chelsea forward Emmanuel Sarki has urged Nigeria to start Samuel Chukwueze in place of the suspended Ademola Lookman for Monday’s decisive 2026 World Cup qualifier against Benin. Lookman is ruled out after receiving consecutive yellow cards during Nigeria’s 2–1 win over Lesotho.
Sarki said Chukwueze’s impressive Premier League form with Fulham makes him a natural replacement, noting his recent assist against Bournemouth. He suggested the winger should start but could be substituted if ineffective by half-time.

Sarki expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ chances, saying morale remains high and the team possesses the quality to win. The squad arrived in Uyo on Sunday after a flight delay, with training set to resume ahead of the must-win Group C encounter.
