The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says security operatives and community vigilantes have foiled an attempt by vandals to dismantle three transmission towers along the Mando–Jos 330kV line. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, 5 October, involved towers T297, T298, and T299.
According to TCN spokesperson Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, parts of the towers had already been removed, weakening their structure, but the line remained stable. She confirmed that both the vandals and suspected buyers were arrested and are now in police custody in Saminaka, Kaduna State.
