Security operatives have raided the Abuja residence of former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. The incident occurred hours after a visit by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Malami had recently regained freedom after being granted bail over alleged money laundering charges.
Video from the scene showed a confrontation between Malami and the operatives, who arrived at the property to carry out enforcement actions. The officials insisted they had authority to mark the property under a forfeiture process, while Malami questioned the legality of their actions, citing the absence of a valid court order.
Malami is currently facing a 16-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering alongside his wife, Asabe Bashir, and his son, Abdulaziz. He has denied all allegations and accused the Federal Government of targeting him unfairly. He says he will defend himself in court.

The former minister has also raised concerns about the conduct of security agencies, alleging violations of his rights during investigations and searches. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Malami maintains that he stands by his record in public office and remains confident of clearing his name.
