The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and Saidu Mohammed as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The confirmations followed the consideration of a report by a joint committee chaired by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu.
The approvals came after President Bola Tinubu wrote to the Senate seeking expedited confirmation of the nominees. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the request followed the resignation of Farouk Ahmed as head of the NMDPRA and the exit of Gbenga Komolafe as chief executive of the NUPRC.
