The Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, says the Federal Government did not pay ransom to secure the release of students recently abducted in Kebbi and Niger states. Speaking on Channels Television, he argued that rescue operations do not always leave visible signs of confrontation and insisted that security agencies are not obliged to disclose operational tactics.
Adaramodu confirmed that an ad-hoc Senate committee had been set up to investigate the Kebbi school attack after reports indicated soldiers assigned to protect the school left their post shortly before the gunmen arrived. The panel will also probe the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba, who was involved in anti-banditry operations.

He maintained that the priority remains the safe recovery of victims, adding that the National Assembly will continue to demand accountability while supporting security agencies.
