Senate Unseals Natasha Akpoti’s Office After Suspension

The Senate has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central. Her office in suite 2.05 of the Senate wing had remained locked since her suspension in March.

A video released on Tuesday showed Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, removing the red seal from the door and formally declaring the office reopened.

It is not yet clear if the decision allows the lawmaker to resume duties, as the Senate has not issued a resolution on her suspension. Earlier this month, she was prevented from resuming, with officials citing ongoing litigation.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months over alleged breaches of Senate rules. In July, a Federal High Court ruled the suspension unconstitutional, but the National Assembly maintained that a fresh resolution or definitive court order was required for her return.
