The Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ipalibo Banigo, has urged increased investment in vaccines to safeguard the health and future of Nigerian children. Speaking at a workshop in Abuja, she said funding immunisation is a direct investment in the nation’s future, commending civil society groups for promoting accountability and health advocacy.
Executive Director of the Vaccine Network for Disease Control, Chika Offor, warned that delayed funding threatens millions of children with preventable diseases such as diphtheria and meningitis. She called for the release of ₦108 billion outstanding for 2024 and full disbursement of ₦231.7 billion for 2025.

Policy analyst Eze Onyekpere proposed doubling the Basic Health Care Provision Fund to two per cent of the national revenue, with dedicated vaccine financing protected from political interference.
