Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called for her disciplinary proceedings in the Senate to be broadcast live, insisting the mattershould not be handled behind closed doors.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central, was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions on Tuesday following a confrontation in the chamber last week. She had rejected her designated seat, defied Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s instructions, and repeatedly raised a point of order despite being overruled.

In a statement on Thursday, she confirmed her readiness to appear before the committee but urged Nigerians to follow the proceedings closely. She added that she had previously refrained from commenting on the issue but now felt compelled to speak.
The development comes as Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan initiates a N100 billion defamation lawsuit against Senate President Akpabio.
