The 10th Senate President’s U-18 Boys Football Competition concluded on Sunday, November 17, with Greatness Sporting Club from Ebonyi State emerging as champions. They triumphed over Qatar Academy of Borno State in a thrilling penalty shootout, winning 7-6 after a goalless draw in regulation time. The final match was held at the Old Parade Ground Sports Complex in Abuja.
In the third-place match, Kebbi Selected defeated Tanko Baba Academy of Nasarawa State 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time. Both teams displayed impressive skill in what proved to be an exciting contest.
Senator Ned Nwoko, Acting Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, rewarded the semi-finalists with a N10 million cash donation, commending their determination and perseverance. He also reaffirmed his commitment to youth football development and pledged continued support for the tournament in future editions.
Senator Ita Enang, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, expressed satisfaction with the event’s organisation and announced plans to host next year’s competition. He also recognized the efforts of Tournament Coordinator Hon. John Bassey Ekpeyong for his hard work in ensuring the competition’s success.
