The chief of Gaza’s Hamas-controlled police force, Mahmoud Salah, and his deputy, Hussam Shahwan, have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent camp sheltering displaced families.
The attack, which occurred overnight in al-Mawasi near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, also claimed the lives of nine others, including three children and two women, according to medical sources.
Gaza’s interior ministry has condemned the strike, describing it as an “assassination” of officials fulfilling their humanitarian and national duties.
