The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oloyede, and Chief of Army Staff, Waidu Shaibu, have arrived in Maiduguri, Borno state following the deadly bombings in the city. Their visit comes after President Bola Tinubu ordered security chiefs to relocate to the state capital.
Police say at least 23 people were killed and 108 others injured in suspected suicide attacks on Monday night. The military chiefs arrived on Wednesday at the Maiduguri Air Force base, where they were received by senior officers, including the theatre commander of Operation Hadin Kai.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the president expressed condolences to the victims and their families, and assured residents of continued efforts to tackle insecurity. He described the attacks as attempts by terrorist groups to spread fear despite pressure from security forces.
