Seven people have been killed in renewed attacks by suspected militant herders on Anwuel village in Oglewu district of Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue State. The violence, which lasted two days, left the community deserted as residents fled for safety.
The Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area, Adole Gabriel, confirmed the attacks, saying two people were killed on Monday before the assailants returned on Tuesday evening and killed five more. He said troops from Operation Whirl Stroke and the governor’s special adviser on security had been deployed to contain the situation.
