Showmax, the African video-on-demand streaming platform owned by MultiChoice, has announced plans to discontinue its service. The company disclosed this in an email sent to subscribers on Thursday.
The platform said the decision is part of efforts to strengthen its digital offerings and ensure long-term sustainability in a highly competitive streaming market. It added that subscribers can continue to stream content for now, as there will be no immediate interruption to the service.
Showmax also said streaming remains an important part of its overall strategy and that it will continue to invest in content, technology and partnerships while working on a smooth transition for users.
