At least six farmers have been killed and one other injured in fresh attacks on the Foron and Gero communities of Plateau State, spanning Jos South and Barkin Ladi local government areas. The incidents were reported on Thursday morning.
The National President of the Berom Youth Moulder-Association, Solomon Dalyop, said the victims were attacked at a mining site in the Gero community at about 9:34 a.m. He said the assailants opened fire on miners, forcing others at the site to flee for safety.
In a related incident, the association’s spokesperson, Rwang Tengwong, said one person was killed near the Foron community in Barkin Ladi. He identified the victim as 44-year-old Ayuba Pam Choji, who was stabbed to death while riding on a motorcycle with another person who survived the attack.

The Berom Youth Moulder-Association accused members of the Fulani ethnic group of carrying out the attacks. However, the Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, denied the allegation, describing it as baseless and saying the group had no knowledge of the incidents.
