Soldiers, Vigilantes Killed in Plateau Ambush as Bandit Violence Spreads

At least two soldiers and two vigilantes were killed in an ambush by armed bandits near Dogon Ruwa in the Bashar district of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The attack occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday as security personnel pursued suspected bandits following an earlier attempted assault in the area. According to local residents, the assailants seized rifles and uniforms from the fallen soldiers.

Traditional leader Abdullahi Yakubu, who oversees the community, confirmed the incident and said the team was caught off guard. He revealed that security forces were mobilised after receiving intelligence but were ambushed en route.

Tensions remain high in Dogon Ruwa and neighbouring villages. The Wase area has suffered repeated bandit attacks, leaving residents fearful and vulnerable.
