The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, says granting full autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 local government areas (LGAs) could lead to “humongous chaos”.

Prof. Soludo voiced his objection at the Governor’s Lodge in Awka, the state capital after he signed the Anambra State Local Government Administration Law 2024, passed by the State House of Assembly last Thursday.

While announcing the establishment of the Anambra State Economic Planning Board, whose membership includes the 21 LGA Chairmen and other stakeholders, the governor asserts that the state House of Assembly will spell out the details of how LGA in the state will administer the finances.
